Green steel:
Although there is not yet a uniform exact definition within the steel industry about Green Steel, there is consensus that it is much less environmentally damaging than "regular" steel. At KS Service Center, we make every effort to make Green Steel as CO₂ free as possible. In addition to purchasing Green Steel (RRP) from our suppliers, we also ensure that CO₂ emissions are kept as low as possible throughout our supply chain. The transport of steel is electric, our machines run on green electricity, and within KS Service Center we steer for the most sustainable operations possible. That is why we are currently also auditing for our ISO 14001 sustainability certification. In short, we make sure that Green Steel at KS Service Center really is as green as possible.
Currently there is no steel on the market that is completely carbon neutral. However, we already have options available where you can save up to 82% CO₂. On an order of 24T steel, this means as much as 50T CO₂!
At KS Service Center, we are making further efforts to make Green Steel as CO₂ free as possible. In addition to purchasing Green Steel (RRP) from our supplier, we also ensure that CO₂ emissions are kept as low as possible throughout our supply chain. Yes, typically we can offer Green Steel to order with delivery times varying between about 4 and 6 weeks. If the steel is already in stock, we can deliver on 1 business day.
Upon delivery of our Green Steel, you will receive an official certificate showing that you have saved up to 82% CO₂. This certificate has been approved by DNV and is in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard. In addition, we at KS Service Center are in the process of auditing for our ISO 14001 sustainability certification. This means that we do our business operations as sustainably as possible, which contributes to reducing CO₂ emissions, among other things.
All our grades of steel on our product sheet are also available with Green Steel certificates. The grade meets the same mechanical properties imposed by Europe. The difference is that with Green Steel you emit up to 82% less CO₂ and thus contribute to a more sustainable future.
When buying Green Steel, it is wise to look broader than just price. If you don't, then Green Steel is currently more expensive than steel produced with coal. If you or your client have set CO₂ savings goals, or your client has quota requirements (for example, in the construction industry), then Green Steel is a competitive product with which you can gain an advantage over your competitor.
