Partnership in the chain realizes first step in making PV sector more sustainable

The solar panel mounting systems of Van der Valk Solar Systems will be produced a lot more sustainable in 2024 through a unique collaboration with chain partners KS Systems, KS Service Center and ArcelorMittal. KS Systems develops and produces profiles for mounting systems to Van der Valk. KS Service Center in turn processes the supplied Magnelis® strip steel from ArcelorMittal with XCarb® certificates. In addition, the steel is processed at KS Systems' and KS Service Center's plants with machines running on 100% green electricity. The transport of the steel is also done with electric transport whenever possible. The sustainable chain cooperation and the choice of sustainably produced steel is a first in the European PV market.

KS Service Center sees the chain cooperation with Van der Valk as the beginning of a trend. Managing Director Corné Rottier is delighted: "If companies want to make sustainability impactful, integral chain cooperation is the way to go. Together we can drastically reduce CO₂ emissions and I am pleased that we can start to show this with this collaboration with Van der Valk." Van der Valk Solar Systems chooses sustainably produced Magnelis®steel to market solar panel mounting systems with minimal CO₂ footprint. Paul van der Meer, Environment Manager at Van der Valk Solar Systems, emphasizes, "We want to be leaders in sustainability, which is why we have chosen sustainably produced steel from KS Service Center as the next step in our sustainable journey."

Sustainably produced Magnelis®steel
This sustainably produced steel comes with XCarb™ certificates from ArcelorMittal. These certificates record the CO₂ savings, so they can be used to report this significant reduction in Scope 3 emissions. With the chain cooperation, KS Service Center and Van der Valk Solar Systems aim to achieve a CO₂ reduction of 82.2%.

Sustainability mission of KS Service Center.
